OKC Police Indifference to Street Prostitution a Cause for Concern

6/13/07 -- OKC, OK - Some say police officers patrolling prostitution infested areas of South Oklahoma City are making their community worse by befriending the hookers and their pimps.

JohnTV.com has posted a video (click thumbnail image above) that shows graphic examples of police consorting with hookers and the hookers becoming so emboldened they mock the officers and do not even try to hide their illegal activities; activities that literally hold families hostage in their own homes.

The video is broken down into two parts. Part 1 depicts a day when police were called to arrest a street prostitute with outstanding warrants. The police Lt. who arrived on scene did not bother to arrest the soliciting prostitute on her warrants. Instead, the officer chatted with the hooker and instructed her to work a few blocks away and in another police district. The officer then attempted to intimidate Brian Bates, aka the Video Vigilante, and founder of this site, by parking next to him and staring at him.

The second part shows several hookers soliciting in a neighborhood park. A police officer arrives on scene. Instead of checking the hookers for warrants or running them off, the officer jokes with the hookers. One of them tells the officer how much she has missed him. The same hooker refers to another officer as her husband and says she's having his baby. As the officer leaves the hookers to solicit, the hookers tell him they are being harassed and to look after them.

More information to come. Click here to be taken to a larger version of the video above.

OKC Police Officer Fired for Having Sex with Hooker is Back on Duty

5/29/07 -- OKC, OK - According to an article published Sunday by the Oklahoman, an Oklahoma City police officer has returned to duty after previously being fired for having sex in his patrol car with a hooker.

As previously reported on JohnTV.com, in January of last year, officer Jeff Sellers was fired after an extensive internal affairs investigation found credible evidence that Sellers had had sex, while on duty, with a known street prostitute.

The findings of investigators were turned over to then Oklahoma County District Attorney Wes Lane. Lane refused to prosecute Sellers. JohnTV.com speculates Lane's refusal to prosecute was due to the fact he was vying for the Fraternal Order of Police's endorsement in his bid for re-election (an election he lost).

Even though Lane refused to file criminal charges, police administrators fired Sellers.

Sellers reportedly turned to the police union and arbitration in retaliation for the firing.

An arbitrator later decided Sellers should not have been fired. A binding arbitration agreement between the city and the police union required them to honor the arbitrators decision.

If you have additional information on this case (i.e. details of the investigation, a photo pf Sellers or what capacity Sellers is working as a police officer) please contact JohnTV.com.

OKC Police Officer Accused of Flashing More than His Badge

4/20/07 -- OKC, OK - The Daily Oklahoman reported today that an Oklahoma City police officer is being investigated for allegedly sending a picture of his penis to a female officer's cell phone (no mention if he had to use a zoom lens). According to the Oklahoman, an unnamed officer has been placed on PAID administrative leave after a female officer complained about receiving an unsolicited picture of the man's penis. Police Captain Steve McCool refused to release the officer's name, age, or length of........ service (gotcha). The female officer said she received the lewd photo on April 5th at 10:15 a.m. The victim then forwarded the picture to a witness and stated she wanted the officer prosecuted (for assault with a friendly weapon most likely). McCool did reveal that they do not believe this is an isolated incident and are investigating other similar complaints against this same officer. "Upon completion of that investigation, we will of course present the case to the district attorney to see if charges will be filed in this matter,” McCool said. This brings up an interesting question. Will newly elected Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater dare file charges against an OCPD officer and risk retaliation from the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) come re-election time? Remember, it was the FOP that refused to endorse former D.A. Wes Lane because he filed a single criminal complaint against a police officer for an alleged assault caught on security camera at the county jail. This, even though D.A. Lane pointed out to the FOP that he had only filed charges against one police officer, yet his office had received criminal complaints against as many as 60 officers. One of the more notable quotes from D.A. Lanes ill-fought re-election campaign was when he addressed the FOP and stated, "What kind of crack would I have to be smoking to file a case on an Oklahoma City police officer at a time in which I am seeking the endorsement of the FOP?"

Oklahoma City Police Officer Fired for Alleged Sex with Prostitute; DA Lane Refuses to File Charges

1/28/06 (updated 1/31/06) -- Oklahoma City - Last week an Oklahoma City police officer was fired after allegations he had been having sex with prostitutes in is patrol car. Oklahoma County district attorney Wes Lane refuses to prosecute. JohnTV.com had been receiving information on at least two officers that were being investigated for engaging in sexual intercourse with prostitutes in their patrol cars while on duty. Last night the investigation and result of at least one officer was confirmed by a report aired on KFOR News Channel 4. According to the report, police internal affairs conducted a lengthy investigation into Oklahoma City police officer Jeff Sellers. The results of that investigation were turned over to Oklahoma County district attorney Wes Lane. Lane refused to file charges against the officer. Police administration decided there was enough evidence to warrant firing Sellers. A source close to the Oklahoma City police department tells JohnTV.com that Sellers was not the only officer investigated in this case. Another officer, who JohnTV.com will only identify as T.B. was allowed to retire and maintain full benefits as opposed to being fired for his alleged criminal activity. JohnTV.com speculates that DA Wes Lane was hesitant to uphold his duty and moral obligation to criminally charge the officer(s) because this is an election year for Lane and he desperately desires the support of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). JohnTV.com's source says there have actually been several similar investigations stemming from credible allegations that Oklahoma City police officers have victimized those they are entrusted to protect the community from. In several cases officers were moved to other police divisions or given "desk" jobs. When a man procures a street prostitute he is betraying his family and continuing the victimization of the woman engaged in street prostitution. When an officer of the law, in uniform and on duty, procures a street prostitute he has betrayed the entire community and violated his oath. The only thing more inexcusable than an immoral police officer who flagrantly violates the law is Oklahoma County district attorney Wes Lane's apparent indifference and unwillingness to up hold the law - all for the sake of politics. JohnTV.com will have more to come.
